8″x10″ acrylic, 2011. At one year old, Sophie seems to be giving her adored stuffed bunny a name! He has been known simply as “Bunny” ever since he was given to Sophie in the hospital at her birth. But recently, Sophie’s mom Allison tells me, Sophie has consistently said “Tickle” each time she picks the bunny up and greets him. Sophie likes to kiss his nose and squeeze him tight while saying “Awwwwwwww!” When her parents take her out of the crib in the morning, Sophie is sure to grab Tickle(?) too, so he doesn’t miss out on any of the fun! You can see two other portraits that I’ve done previously of this particular model of Jellycat bunny here and here.

Jennifer, I cannot thank you enough for this wonderful portrait! The bunny is still in the process of being given a name – sometimes it’s Tickle, sometimes Peekaboo, though most often these days, it’s Buddy. (Sophie can’t quite say Bunny, so it’s coming out “Buddy.”) We’re not sure which one will stick! But she loves having TWO Bunnies in her room to look at, and she’ll point to the one in her crib, and then the one on her wall and yell “BUDDY!” 🙂
Thank you so much for your beautiful work. Even when Tickle-Peekaboo-Buddy-Bunny is taking a much-needed bath, Sophie will still be able to look up on the wall to see his sweet face. 🙂
Thank you for this wonderful note Allison — it makes me so happy to know that she likes it!
